164 new COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya

Shillong, Oct 1 (UNI) Meghalaya on Thursday reported 164 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the total number of active cases up to 1750, even as 26 more patients have recovered, pushing the number of recoveries to 4,001.
Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said that the of the new cases, East Khasi Hills district, which includes Shillong, the state capital of Meghalaya recorded 86 (82 civilians and four from among armed and paramilitary forces), 56 in Ri-Bhoi district, 13 in West Garo Hills district, four in West Jaintia Hills district, three in East Jaintia Hills district, besides one each in South Garo Hills district and South West Khasi Hills district.
Of the 26 new recoveries, East Khasi Hills had 17, Ri-Bhoi five (armed and paramilitary forces two, others three), West Garo Hills
three and West Jaintia Hills one.
So far, Meghalaya has detected a total of 5,802 COVID 19 cases out of which 1750 are active, 51 deaths and 4001 recoveries.
As on date, 1,53,177 samples have been tested out of which 1,47,375 have tested negative, the senior health official informed.
Meanwhile, a Raj Bhavan communiqué on Thursday informed that Governor Satya Pal Malik along with his personal staff and ADCs have again tested negative after being tested for COVID-19 upon his return from New Delhi on September 29, where he had been to meet President Ram Nath Kovind and for other engagements from September 22 to 28.
“At the same time the number of asymptomatic / positive cases in Raj
Bhavan have come down to 15 only out of which almost all are such who have put in 14 days of quarantine and issued discharge certificate with home isolation advisory for 7 days.
They are all asymptomatic and doing fine. The containment zone order of Raj Bhavan quarters was also lifted on September 27, barring 4 micro containment houses of positive cases with earlier mild symptoms or repeat positive tests,” the communiqué signed by the governor’s secretary, Pravin Bakshi said.
