NCW writes to C'garh DGP on rape of woman during mental illness

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) Taking suo motu cognisance of news reports, the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Thursday asked the Director General of Police, Chhattisgarh for a thorough probe in the case of a
Chhattisgarh woman who was allegedly raped and impregnated by her employer when she was suffering from
mental illness.
Demanding strict action against the culprit, NCW has sought a detailed Action Taken Report from the
administration at the earliest.
"The Commission is disturbed after coming to know of the brutality faced by the woman who was constantly
subjected to such cruel behaviour that too when she was mentally unsound. It also shows the sad state of
women safety in the society," the NCW release said.
NCW was reacting to news reports that the woman was reportedly sent to work in the residence of the accused when she was mentally unwell where she was allegedly raped, impregnated and later dropped back to her father’s place.
