Life Mission; SC lawyer to appear for govt in High Court

Kochi, Oct 01 (UNI) A Supreme Court lawyer will appear for Kerala government in the High Court which will consider the government's appeal on Thursday against CBI probe into Life Mission scam.
Senior advocate of the Supreme Court KV Viswanathan will appear for the government through video conference from New Delhi.
The government on Wednesday moved an appeal against CBI probe into the scam in the court. Life Mission CEO UV Jose has filed the plea seeking to nullify the FIR registered by CBI based on the complaint of Anil Akkara MLA.
The petition criticised the central government's order on CBI probe into the scam and noted the FIR as illegal.
The government also pointed out that the centre should not issue an order for CBI probe by overriding the state police system.
Jose, a senior IAS officer, was summoned to appear before the CBI with the documents on October five.
According to the Mission, the agreement for the construction was inked between UAE-based charity Red Crescent which is funding the construction at Wadakkanchery in Thrissur and Unitech Builders.
The state has no role and hence the FIR is illegal and should be quashed.
