Representatives of Theatre Owners' Association meet Maha Min

Mumbai, Oct 1 (UNI) While assuring the representatives of the Theatre Owners' Association, Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Amit Deshmukh said on Thursday that the state government was positive about reopening of cinema halls and theatres but its priority is to ensure safety of citizens amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

During a meeting with representatives of the Association, Mr Deshmukh said he would discuss the matter with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat.

It may be recalled that the state government had on Wednesday extended the lockdown till Oct 31, with a condition that cinema halls. swimming pools, etc., will not be in operation till end of this month.

While the Centre has allowed cinema halls with 50 per cent capacity in non-containment zones, following this the members of Association met the state Cultural minister.
