The Supreme Court on Thursday approved the new recommendations of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) regarding the refund of their air tickets canceled during the lockdown, as well as the refund of the amount of the canceled ticket of those passengers to the airlines by 31 March 2021. Gave time
A division bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, Justice R. Subhash Reddy, and Justice MR Shah, while disposing of the petition of the Migrant Legal Cell, accepted all the recommendations of the DGCA regarding the refund. The bench made it clear that refunds for tickets purchased through the agent will be made to the agent and not to the passengers.
The apex court had reserved the judgment while completing the plea hearing last week. The court said that all private airlines are bound to follow the recommendations of DGCA.
