Regular school activities to remain closed in Meghalaya

Shillong, Oct 1 (UNI)Regular class activities for schools, colleges, educational institutions in Meghalaya will continue to remain closed until further orders, the State education department said on Thursday.
however, schools, which partially re-opened across the state from September 21, would remain open for activities, such as
“teacher-student counseling, clearing doubts, addressing hard spots, sharing unit/lesson plans, assignments, submission of works, student assessment programme”.
“All schools are to prepare a Continuous Learning Plan (CLP) to ensure all students are learning. Online/distance learning shall continue to be permitted and encouraged and all schools are to develop a 50 percent attendance schedule/roster duty of teaching and non-teaching staff,” a notification signed by Principal Secretary, Education department, DP Wahlang specified.
The notification iterated that only students of classes 9 to 12 are permitted to visit their schools, in areas outside the containment zones only, on voluntary basis for taking guidance from their teachers. This will be subject to written consent of their parents/guardians and mandatory compliance to the standard operating procedures and generic preventive measures, including physical distancing, use of face covers/masks and hand sanitization.
“Schools are to develop their individual micro planning relating to flexibility in school timings, scheduling of students visit and uniform code and are advised to ensure short duration visit of students,” Wahlang said.
“Teaching materials, computers, laptops, printers, shall be disinfected with 70% alcohol/wipes. Students should not be involved in any of the cleaning activities for health safety reasons,” Wahlang underscored.
The adjusted academic calendar has been uploaded in the education department website (www.megeducation.gov.in) and also at the MBOSE website (www.mbose.in).
