No need to burn stubble, decompose it !

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) In a bid to tackle the menace of stubble burning which is the one of the reason of air pollution in Delhi and nearby areas, Environment Ministry on Thursday announced a 'Stubble Decomposer Capsule' made by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), which when sprayed over fields can decompose the straw.

The decision was taken at a Environment Ministerial Meeting on pollution problem in Delhi-NCR.

The environment ministers of Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan attended the virtual meeting chaired by Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar.

It was also decided in the meeting that along with 13 pollution hotspots in Delhi, monitoring of pollution hotspots will be increased in other states as well.

Briefing the media persons after the meeting, Mr Javadekar informed that ICAR's decomposer capsules will be tested in five states this year.

'There are several other issues other than pollution caused due to Stubble Burning in Delhi, the Delhi Government has been directed to take more actions for 13 hotspots,' Mr Javadekar said.
