Slow progress on shoulder injury could force Trbojevic out of Origin series
Tom Trbojevic could be forced to withdraw from the State of Origin series after his injured shoulder failed to respond to treatment as well as hoped.
Trbojevic has played just 62 minutes of football since his troublesome hamstrings forced him to limp off Campbelltown Sports Stadium in round six. Despite picking up a shoulder injury against the Titans in round 19, NSW coach Brad Fittler selected the Manly star as part of his extended Blues squad.

Trbojevic has been one of Fittler’s favourites due to his ability to play several positions in the back line. However, it is increasingly likely the 23-year-old won’t play a part in the interstate series as he struggles to overcome his injury.
With James Tedesco assured of the No.1 Blues jersey, Trbojevic was poised to slot in at wing or centre. But it’s likely he will be scratched, forcing Fittler to reconsider his three-quarter options.
Earlier this week, Fittler spoke confidently about Trbojevic being fit to take on the Maroons.
“Nathan Gibbs is the Manly doctor, he’s also our doctor,” Fittler said.
“He’s the most experienced doctor in the league at the moment and, listening to Nathan, talking to Nathan, he believes he will be 100 per cent by game one. I have no risk at all [in saying] that Tommy will play a big part in this series.”
Trbojevic’s withdrawal would be another blow after another certain centre selection, Kotoni Staggs, was ruled out with injury. Potential replacements include Clint Gutherson, Jarrod Croker, Jesse Ramien, Zac Lomax, Campbell Graham and Stephen Crichton.
