Govt's fiscal deficit reaches Rs 8,70,347 crore by August

New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) The total revenue receipts of the government from April to August in the current financial year was Rs 3,77,306 crore while its total expenditure was Rs 12,47,653 crore and thus the total revenue loss to the government during this period has been Rs 8,70,347 crore.
The Government of India has received Rs 3,77,306 crore (16.80 per cent of corresponding Budget Estimate 2020-21 of Total Receipts) upto August, 2020 comprising Rs 2,84,495 crore Tax Revenue (Net to Centre), Rs86,147 crore of Non Tax Revenue and Rs6,664 crore of Non Debt Capital Receipts.
Non Debt Capital Receipts consists of Recovery of Loans (Rs6,635 crore) and Disinvestment proceeds (Rs29 crore) Rs 2,17,976 crore has been transferred to State Governments as Devolution of Share of Taxes by Government of India upto this period which is Rs37,629 crore lower than the previous year,according to a Finance Ministry statement here on Wednesday.
Total Expenditure incurred by Government of India is Rs12,47,653 crore (41.01per cent of corresponding BE 2020-21), out of which Rs11,13,206 crore is on Revenue Account and Rs1,34,447crore is on Capital Account.
Out of the Total Revenue Expenditure, Rs2,37,662 crore is on account of Interest Payments and Rs1,30,700 crore is on account of Major Subsidies.
