Injured Springbok lock Lood de Jager will be involved in a coaching capacity during Saturday's Springbok Showdown at Newlands.

SA Rugby confirmed on Tuesday that De Jager would join the Springbok Green team as their lineout coach.

The 2019 World Cup winner suffered a shoulder injury earlier this month while representing his English club, Sale Sharks.

The 27-year-old will assist Springbok Green coach Mzwandile Stick and assistant Daan Human before going under the knife next week.

Meanwhile, the Springbok Gold team had a new edition in Springbok scrumhalf Ivan van Zyl, who replaces Jaden Hendrikse following his withdrawal due to a chest injury.

Van Zyl, who earned three Test caps in 2018 and was named in the original draft squad of 93, will want to make a statement to the Springbok coaching staff.
