Cong's Dalwai terms Babri verdict "shocking", Min Malik says "lack of evidence" led to acquittal

Cong's Dalwai terms Babri verdict

Aurangabad/Mumbai, Sep 30 (UNI) The CBI court's verdict in the Babri Masjid case is shocking and doesn't take into account the facts, averred senior Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Hussain Dalwai on Wednesday.

Reacting to the most-awaited judgement, Mr Dalwai stated, "A nationwide campaign was launched by the BJP and Sangh Parivar to demolish the Babri Masjid. Rathyatras were taken out, riots broke out and thousands of innocent people were killed."

"Around 1.5 million people had gathered in Ayodhya. Under whose leadership did they come there?," he questioned.

"Not only that, many had also taken the tools needed to demolish the mosque. Evidence of this has been seen all over the country by newspapers and news channels," he asserted.

"However, it is shocking and incomprehensible that the accused involved in this conspiracy were acquitted due to lack of strong evidence," he tersely remarked.

"This (verdict) will erode the confidence of the people of the country in the judiciary," he summed up.

Similarly, Maharashtra Minority Development Minister Nawab Malik also reiterated Mr Dalwai's stance that all the 32 accused, including the BJP stalwarts, were set free "due to lack of evidence".

"But if you go to YouTube, there are videos (of the demolition) available in the world," he mentioned. "In the end, we respect the court's decision," he added.
