Cong demands resignation of Yogi Adityanath over denial of justice to Hathras gang-rape victim

Cong demands resignation of Yogi Adityanath over denial of justice to Hathras gang-rape victim

New Delhi, Sep 30(UNI) The Congress on Wednesday demanded resignation of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for 'denying' justice to the Hathras gang-rape victim by cremating her body before daybreak allegedly without the family's consent.

'The way in which Justice was denied to the Hathras gang-rape victim by cremating her body without the consent of her parents, the Prime Minister should seek the resignation of Yogi Adityanath from post of the chief minister. Unless that is done, justice will not be served to the victim, 'the president of the All India Mahila Congress Sushmita Dev said in a joint press conference with AICC spokesperson Supriya Srinate and Congress leader Udit Raj.

Terming the setting up of the SIT by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to probe the incident as 'not enough', Sushmita Dev said ,'I want to ask My Ajay Bisht(yogi Adityanath) whether the SIT has the power to summon the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister needs to explain why despite serious injuries to the victim , she was kept in a normal ward for eight days and admitted to Safdarjung hospital only when she was on her last breath. The Chief Minister needs to take responsibility for this negligence.

'So, setting up an SIT or Fast Track Court has not enough. The subject matter of the inquiry must go beyond the rape, beyond the activities of the rapists. There should be an enquiry against the gross and criminal negligence of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Ajay Bisht, who is also the Home Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The way she was cremated, is a gross violation of human rights. Yogi Adityanath should explain why no FIR was registered for eight days. The SIT will carry out probe against the rapists but who will probe into the conspiracy by Yogi Adityanath. . Can the Prime Minister of India tell this country that the very state from which you are elected as MP, your Chief Minister is repeatedly failing and the women of UP are being brutally murdered, killed, raped and the Prime Minister is watching.

'The Congress party feels that there is only one way in which justice can be served which is the resignation of Yogi Adityanath.'

Questioning the silence of the Prime Minister and the Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani on the matter, she said, 'Today, I am ashamed to say that the Union Women and Child Development Minister is also from UP and she is silent. She is a women of no conviction, zero integrity and in the Indian history, the worst and shameless, Women and Child Development Minister, this country has ever seen and don’t you tell us, we are politicizing it. The same Prime Minister who had said- “Nirbhaya ko yaad rakhna” before 2014 elections is dumb and silent today.'
