COVID: Those undergo antibody testing; fit to donate blood plasma: Jammu GMC Authorities

Jammu, Sep 30 (UNI) Jammu based Government Medical College and Hospital authorities on Wednesday said that all those who underwent antibody testing were found fit to donate blood plasma to treat the COVID positive patients.
Hospital sources here said, “the sample of 15 persons was collected and the report was received on Wednesday evening.”
“All are fit to donate the blood plasma and it is a healthy sign,” they said adding that record is being maintained of COVID positive patients who have recovered and their willingness is required for donating the blood plasma.
“The antibodies level in the samples of those underwent the testing was accurate and they can be healthy donors at the time of need,” sources added.
Pertinent to mention here that Jammu GMC on Tuesday started conducting antibody testing on fully recovered patients aiming to set up plasma banks to treat COVID-19 positives with blood plasma therapy.
While plasma therapy showed some promising results in treating the COVID-19 positive cases, Jammu and Kashmir Government before setting up Plasma Banks in prominent hospitals across the Union Territory, have started conducting antibody testing of the patients recovered from the pandemic and are willing to donate blood plasma.
Jammu and Kashmir administration, likewise many other parts of the country, to treat positive cases with plasma therapy, have agreed to set up Plasma Banks.
