Punjab registers 1,435 fresh COVID-19 cases, 47 deaths

Chandigarh, Sep 30 (UNI) As many as 1,435 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 47 deaths were reported in Punjab on Wednesday, taking the infection tally to 1,13,886 and the death toll to 3,406.
According to the Health bulletin, the fresh deaths included seven in Hoshiarpur district, six in Ludhiana, five each in Jalandhar and SAS Nagar, four each in Bathinda and Gurdaspur, three in Ropar, two each in Amritsar, Ferozepur and Sangrur and one death each in Barnala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Fazilka, Moga, Muktsar, SBS Nagar and Patiala districts today.
It further said 167 fresh cases were reported from Amritsar district, 163 from Ludhiana, 143 from Jalandhar, 123 from SAS Nagar, 96 from Patiala, 90 from Bathinda, 89 from Pathankot, 76 from Ferozepur, 71 from Gurdaspur, 66 from Hoshiarpur, 58 from Fazilka, 57 from Faridkot, 39 from Ropar, 35 from Kapurthala, 29 from SBS Nagar, 27 each from Sangrur and Muktsar, 25 from Moga, 22 from Fatehgarh Sahib, 17 from Mansa, 11 from Barnala and four new cases from Tarn Taran district.
It was stated that of 3,406 fatalities in the state so far, 741 deaths have been registered in Ludhiana district, 390 in Jalandhar, 361 in Amritsar, 321 in Patiala, 191 in SAS Nagar, 157 in Hoshiarpur, 146 in Sangrur, 145 in Gurdaspur, 138 in Kapurthala, 113 in Bathinda, 99 in Ferozepur and 82 in Fatehgarh Sahib.
Ropar registered 75 deaths, followed by 74 in Pathankot, 68 in Moga, 65 in Tarn Taran, 48 in SBS Nagar, 44 in Faridkot, 43 in Barnala, 40 in Muktsar, 35 in Fazilka and 30 deaths in Mansa district.
According to the latest COVID figures, Ludhiana leads with 17,958 cases, followed by Jalandhar 13,030, Patiala 11,565, SAS Nagar 10,350, Amritsar 9,987, Gurdaspur 5,903, Bathinda 5,892, Hoshiarpur 4,500, Ferozepur 3,727, Pathankot 3,678, Sangrur 3,544, Kapurthala 3,221, Faridkot 2,764, Muktsar 2,486, Fazilka 2,377, Moga 2,238, Ropar 2,089, Fatehgarh Sahib 1,904, Barnala 1,832, Tarn Taran 1,642, SBS Nagar 1,622 and Mansa 1,577.
The bulletin further stated that there were 16,814 active patients in the state. Among them, 372 patients were on oxygen support and 49 on ventilators. It said 93,666 patients have been cured of the virus in the state so far.
Out of the total 18,41,955 samples taken in the state till now, 1,13,886 have tested positive, added the bulletin.
