In around 15 provinces of Iran, Gilan, Khorasan Razavi, Yazd, Fars, Mazandaran, Ardebil, Kermanshah, East Azarbaijan, Bushehr, South Khorasan, Khuzestan, Qazvin, Markazi, Golestan, and Tehran, new projects have been implemented which will generate over 1,700 job opportunities.
The projects comprise accommodation centers like hotels and apartment hotels, tourist complexes, traditional restaurants, and eco-lodge units.
As a subsidiary to the inaugural ceremony, the president of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, emphasized the rich history and cultural heritage of his country, saying, “We need to invite people of the world to see these great works and know what a great history this nation has had.”
“No matter how many history books are read, it won’t replace seeing beautiful and magnificent works in Iran’s tourism hubs in Isfahan, Shiraz, Yazd, Tabriz and other cities,” he further mentioned.
In Tehran, a 20-room hotel apartment with an investment of about 800 billion rials ($19 million) was inaugurated as well by Ali-Asghar Mounesan, the Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Minister during the ceremony.
The minister mentioned that in the capital of Iran, in the last seven years, the number of the accommodation centers has increased by 50 percent while over 2,000 eco-lodge units have come up, which boosts up the economic prosperity of the country and generate new jobs in the rural areas.
Also, he observed that almost eight million nationals of other countries have visited Iran during the previous Iranian calendar year 1398 (ended March 20), though, the pandemic has brought everything to a standstill.
In August 2020, the minister declared that the travel sector of the country has gone through major loss of 12 trillion rials (some $2.85 billion) since the outbreak of the pandemic. Nevertheless, he mentioned that all businesses related to tourism across the country will have the capacity to recommence their activities both in domestic and foreign markets.
