The State government of Andhra Pradesh has declared that it would expand Kondaveedu fort from the district into a well-known tourism hotspot.
Mekathoti Sucharita, the state Home Minister has declared that the fort stood as a mark of valiance and glory of the Reddy rulers. She explained that they wouldn’t keep any stone unturned to protect the state heritage.
She made these remarks at the time of addressing Konda veedu development meeting at Ramannapeta.
Kondaveedu heritage society had organized the meeting and was chaired by the state chairman of the anti-liquor publicity committee, P. Laxmana Reddy. The meeting kick started after paying tribute to SP Balasubramanyam, the late singer. The Home Minister has released a book entitled Kondaveedu Charitra Vyasalu written by famous Telugu teacher Dr. Modugula Ravi Krishna. Speaking on the occasion, she stated that the Kondaveedu fort was a great fort and it fought against the enemy many times.
She also mentioned that she used to watch the fort when she was a child. She added that the main route that would take one to the fort was in extremely bad state during her childhood days. She said that the chief minister of the state YS Jaganmohahn Reddy has huge plans to develop the fort as soon as he became the CM of the state. She also mentioned that the expansion works of the fort would be strengthened up after the virus threat gets over. The chairman of the committee Shiva Reddy highlighted the problem of the narrow road between firangipuram and kondaveedu fort.
Also, added that she would take measures for road expansion between ameenabad and the fort. She said that their primary aim was to make sure that the future generations would receive the rich history and heritage of the fort from them.
