The CBI has now filed a charge sheet against nine erstwhile police officers under various sections in the case of father-son death in Kovilpatti jail in Tamil Nadu. Including the then Inspector / SHO of Sathankulam Police Station.
Let us know that earlier on July 7, the CBI had started its investigation by registering two cases in this case. The CBI has reached this decision after conducting an investigation at every level in about two and a half months.
Know what was the matter
On June 19, the Sathankulam police had registered a case against shopkeeper P. Jayaraj and his son J. Bennix for not closing their mobile shop during administration. After this, the father and son were sent to judicial custody. Both were lodged in Kovilpatti jail on 21 June.
Jayaraj died in judicial custody on the night of 22 June and Benix died on the morning of 23 June. It was reported that both died due to police torture. After this, the CBI started investigating on the recommendation of the government.
