Haryana Police on Friday lathicharged sacked physical training instructors (PTIs) who were protesting against Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala in Charkhi Dadri.
The physical trainers were staging a protest outside a government rest house against their dismissal. At least one woman teacher has been injured in the lathicharge.
Despite police action, a large number of trainers are still protesting outside the rest house. There is a heavy presence of cops at the protest site.
Haryana government had sacked 1,983 physical training instructors, appointed during Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s tenure in 2010, following a Supreme Court order in June this year. The SC had termed their appointment as void as it found that the government did not follow the recruitment procedure properly.
The sacked PTIs have staged multiple protests since June. In July, physical trainers were lathicharged while protesting in Jind, Jakhal and Kurukshetra’ Pipli. They had also blocked the Ambala-Hisar national highway. During the blockade, several teachers had to be admitted to the hospital due to heatstroke.
Earlier this month, on September 12, the PTIs had gheraoed Dushyant Chautala's residence in Sirsa.
