A 33-year-old man is said to have committed suicide at his house after quarrelling with his wife near Kalpakkam on Tuesday. The police suspect possible hand of the wife in his death and are waiting for the post-mortem examination report.
Chennai: The deceased was identified as M Prakash of Anupuram Nagar near Kalpakkam and owned a vegetable shop in the locality.
The police said that he was married and was living with his wife Selvakani (32) and two sons. The couple used to quarrel often and on Tuesday, they got into an argument. Dejected over this, Prakash took a knife and committed suicide by stabbing himself.
On hearing his cries, his wife and neighbours rushed him to the Chengalpattu government hospital but he has declared brought dead.
Police sources said that Selvakani was evasive in her replies and she was taken to the Mahabalipuram all-women police station for inquiry. Prakash’s body was handed over to the family and the police have registered a case.
