The Center has allowed states to spend up to 50 percent of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) in dealing with COVID-19. This money can be used to strengthen infrastructures such as isolated habitat centers, testing laboratories, oxygen production plants, and purchase ventilators and PPE kits to combat the epidemic.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday told the Chief Ministers of the seven states most affected by COVID-19 that his government had increased the SDRF spending limit for states to fight the epidemic.

The Union Home Ministry said in a message to the Chief Secretaries of all states and union territories that it has spent up to 50 percent of the SDRF for prevention of COVID-19 for a one-time special situation in the financial year 2020-2021. The list of items and rules related to aid has been partially revised.
