Man attacked by crocodile off far north Queensland island

A 33-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being attacked by a crocodile off a remote far north Queensland island.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service was called out to Lizard Island, about 250 kilometres north of Cairns on the Great Barrier Reef, about 4.30pm on Wednesday.

The man was flown to Cairns Hospital where he remains in a stable condition, a spokesperson for the region's hospital and health service said in a statement.
