India underwent successful nighttime trial of Prithvi-2 missile developed in the country from a center in Odisha on Wednesday (23 September) as part of the Army's practice test.

Defense sources said the state-of-the-art missile was tested in the dark from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) near Chandipur and the test was successful in meeting all the criteria.

A DRDO official said the test of the missile, which has a range of 350 km, was carried out from mobile launchers from ITR's launch complex-3.

Describing the test as a routine exercise, he said, the missile trajectory was tracked off the coast of Odisha by DRDO by radar, electro-optical tracking systems and telemetry stations.

Official sources said the missile was randomly selected from the production stock and the entire launching activity was carried out by the Army's Strategic Forces Command (SFC) and monitored by scientists from the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
