The British Virgin Islands has decided to officially reopen for international tourism in December, according to reports. The announcement was recently made by British Virgin Islands Premier Andrew A. Fahie who stated that the Territory has two full months to prepare for the reopening and authorities want to get it done right by making the Government and private sector work together.
He also mentioned that the BVI’s government intends to reopen the BVI in the safest way possible, using science and technology as a guide. He said that next phase will also come with its own risks and said that if a new COVID-19 case enters the territory, it can spread to the whole community rapidly. Therefore, the British Virgin Islands is looking forward to use technology so that it can assist authorities in the safest way of reopening, as humanly possible.
The BVI is yet to announce specific health and safety protocols for entry, although such measures is likely be revealed soon. Meanwhile, the neighbouring U.S. Virgin Islands has already opened up for tourism on September 19. Authorities and travel industry professionals of the British Virgin Islands are looking forward to experience a sense of normalcy with the return of tourism, which is deemed to be important for the success of the islands and its tourism industry.
