Oil & gas regulator Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board's (or PNGRB) draft regulation for determining transportation tariffs for third parties for using the city gas and compressed natural gas (CNG) distribution network of existing players has again put the spotlight on competition.

Legacy city gas distribution (CGD) players like Indraprastha Gas (IGL), Mahanagar Gas (MGL) and Gujarat Gas currently have exclusivity in their area of operations. Post the exclusivity period, pipeline infrastructure of these companies can be shared by new entrants for providing services. ...
