Lonavala: Woman lodges police complaint against caretaker for killing her pet dog

Lonavala: In a weird incident, a Mumbai resident has lodged a complaint against a caretaker at the Pune based Lonavala city police station for allegedly involved in killing a six-year-old dog.

The incident came to light after Ayesha Samir Vashi (49), Union Park, Khar West Mumbai has lodged a First Information Report with Lonavala City police station which falls under the jurisdiction of Pune rural police on September 17. Based on which the police have registered the case against the caretaker Ram Andre.

Complaint Vashi owns a bungalow in Dean Villa Society in Tungarli. Vashi is an actress who has acted in various movies. She had brought two puppies to her bungalow in Lonavala six years ago. The caretaker of the bungalow Ram Andre also used to take care of her dog.

Senior police inspector Manojkumar Yadav who is investigating the case said, “On September 13, Andre called Vashi and told her that one of the two dogs named Rocky, had fallen into a water tank and died. However, as blood was coming out of the dog's nose and mouth. Suspecting some undue incident, Complaint consulted veterinary doctor Gaikwad and Meshram. She also conducted an autopsy that revealed that the dog had died of suffocation.”

He added, “Vashi asked caretaker Andre about this, he gave vague answers which started suspecting some kind of mischievous behaviour of Andre. This prompted her to approach us and lodged a case against him for killing the dog. Vashi has lodged a complaint against him at the Lonavla city police station on the suspicion that the dog had killed Andre himself. A case has been registered against Andre under the relevant section 429 of the Penal Code which speaks about mischief of killing animals. We are probing the case and waiting for the post mortem.”
