India reported the lowest number of fresh Covid-19 infections in six days, while daily recovery rate tops 90,000 for the third straight day.

The country added close to 87,000 new cases in a matter of 24 hours, taking the total tally near 55 lakh, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Sept. 21. This includes almost 44 lakh patients who have recovered and more than 87,000 deaths.

Fresh cases fell below 90,000 for the first time in almost a week.

America’s deaths from Covid-19 approached 200,000. U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson will announce new restrictions on bars and restaurants. Australia’s Victoria reported a jump of new cases as the state moves closer to easing its lockdown in Melbourne. South Korean infections increased by less than 100 for a third day, the first such streak since mid-August.

Globally, cases top 31 million, deaths exceed 962,000.
