
Butterworth police have arrested a 42-year-old man who allegedly used an extension cord to beat his girlfriend to death in an apparent jealous rage.
According to Eastern Cape police spokesperson Captain Khaya Tonjeni, the man allegedly assaulted 26-year-old Siphosethu Qaqa at about 19:00 on Sunday in Lalini, Bawa Village, Butterworth.
According to Tonjeni, he believed that Qaqa was dating another man in the same village.
Qaqa's body was found at the man's home.
Eastern Cape police commissioner Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga commended Butterworth police for their swift response.
The man is expected to appear before the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on a charge of murder.
