BOSTON --- Alex Verdugo was back atop the Red Sox lineup Tuesday night.

Verdugo was removed early in Friday’s extra-inning loss to the Yankees due to hamstring tightness and missed the next two games. He tops Boston in runs scored, hits, batting average, on-base percentage and OPS and is tied with Rafael Devers for the team lead in doubles.

Xander Bogaerts also returned to the Red Sox lineup after being granted the day off in Sunday’s 10-2 win over New York. Christian Arroyo (back spasms) remained sidelined for the second straight day, with Jonathan Arauz serving as the double play partner for Bogaerts at second base.

"He’s not going to field ground balls, but he’s going to throw and he’s going to run and swing more," Red Sox manager Ron Roenicke said. "He thinks he’ll be okay tomorrow. We’ll just come in and see how that is."
