IPL 2020, SRH vs RCB Highlights: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 10 runs at the Dubai International Stadium on Monday.
After SRH won the toss and opted to field first, Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch provided a brilliant start before the debutant got dismissed for 56 at 90/1. Finch, Virat Kohli departed soon after, but AB de Villiers (51) guided the Bangalore-based team to a fighting total of 163/5.
In the chase, Jonny Bairstow’s 43-ball 61 proved to be futile as SRH suffered a mid-order collapse from 121/2 to 153-all out. Yuzvendra Chahal (3/18), Shivam Dube (2/15), and Navdeep Saini (2/25) shined with the ball for RCB.
And it's over! What a turnaround! RCB win by 10 runs! The agony ends for SRH who have been on a freefall since they were 121/2... and now they are all-out for 153 from 19.4 overs. RCB deserve all the plaudits for the way they regained control in the game. Virat Kohli's captaincy played an important role in their first win of the season and so did Yuzvendra Chahal's brilliant spell of 3/18.
The injured Mitchell Marsh is on for his team, limping and in pain. Off his first ball, he tries to go for a six against Dube but his shot goes straight into the hands of Kohli. The Australian has also hurt himself in the process. SRH are 143/9 after 18.2 overs.
All but over for Hyderabad. What Chahal started, Saini adds a finishing touch. The RCB pacer dismisses Rashid for 6 as the delivery hits the off stump clean as a whistle. Hyderabad still need 22 runs from 12 balls. SRH are 142/8 after 18 overs.
Even though Saini started off the over poorly by giving away five wides, he rights his wrongs with a gem of a delivery to dismiss Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Straight down the middle, quick and in line, and it rocks the castle. SRH are 141/7 after 17.4 overs.
Rashid Khan comes on and he hits a confidence-boosting boundary against Dube, but soon after, it turns worse. Off the last ball of the over, both Rashid and Abhishek collide with each other in the middle of the pitch. RCB have it easy and Umesh/Philippe combine to dismiss Abhishek. Rashid gets injured in the process to. Complete mayhem! SRH are 135/6 after 17 overs.
RCB have completely turned it around here! Garg tries to be cute and tries to lift it up over the wicketkeeper, but his shot hits his face and then hits the stumps. Utter jubilation for Dube and his teammates. SRH are 129/5 after 16.3 overs.
Chahal on a hattrick, but Abhishek Sharma handles it well and takes a single. A single from Garg and then a four from Sharma to bring the end of the over. Chahal ends his spell on 3/18. Hyderabad need 37 runs from 24 balls. SRH are 127/4 after 16 overs.
THE WRONG-UN! Chahal strikes again and what a beauty that is! Vijay Shankar comes on to the pitch and he walks away for a golden duck. Could this be the deciding factor for the match? Can SRH bounce back? SRH are 121/4 after 15.3 overs.
Finally! RCB have their man and Bairstow is finally made to walk back to the dressing room. What a delivery by Chahal as he completely dumbfounds the opener and bowls him out. The batsman departs for 61. SRH are 121/3 after 15.2 overs.
After Umesh threw away the control by giving away 14 runs, Kohli brings in Steyn to do damage control. But even Steyn gets the Bairstow treatment on the second ball: four! Another catch dropped though... both Steyn and Kohli shake their head. It's as if Bairstow has nine lives tonight. Garg then doubles the pain with a boundary. 13 runs off the over. SRH are 121/2 after 15 overs.
Umesh comes back and Steyn disappoints him... Bairstow (56*) skies a delivery and the veteran pacer just drops the catch near the ropes. And obviously, the opener smacks one subsequently and reaches his fifty in 37 balls. SRH are 108/2 after 14 overs.
Priyam Garg (2*) comes in place of Pandey to lend his support to the in-form Bairstow (44*). SRH have to bounce back quickly before RCB build their pressure on the back of that wicket. Dube gives away just five runs. SRH are 94/2 after 13 overs.
Kohli has a talk with Chahal and changes his fielding after Finch dropped Bairstow in the last over. RCB need to find a breakthrough here. And they get it as Pandey is caught by Saini near the ropes, and he walks off for 34. SRH are 89/2 after 12 overs.
After a blistering 13-run over and a timeout, SRH keep it going through Bairstow (39*) and Pandey (31*). The only blot on the SRH innings has been the unfortunate run-out of Warner, but on the whole? A good start. Chahal though... he has been quite economical as he gives away just six runs off the over. Hyderabad need 86 more runs to win. SRH are 78/1 after 10 overs.
Yuzvendra Chahal joins the attack and the spin is doing a world of good for RCB. Both Pandey and Bairstow fail to attack the leg-spinner and manage to get just four runs off the over. Bairstow's on 23*, while Pandey's on 28*. SRH are 59/1 after 8 overs.
Washington Sundar is brought into the attack, and he is punished right away! Pandey gets on one knee and send the ball way over long-on on the second ball of the over. Three dots and a single follows. Pandey retains strike. SRH are 55/1 after 7 overs.
After Pandey smacked Umesh for two fours in the last over, Bairstow (20*) gets his groove on with a brilliant shot to deep square leg against Saini. But the bowler ends with the same kind of length and concedes just two singles. SRH are 48/1 after 6 overs.
Navdeep Saini joins the attack and puts Pandey and Bairstow under some pressure with his full-length bowling. The Englishman tries to find a gap in the last ball but Kohli's field-setup is too good. Just five runs off the over. SRH are 30/1 after 4 overs.
Umesh Yadav begins his spell with a LBW shout, but nothing comes off it. After two wides, the bowler is punished in consecutive balls by Bairstow (10*) in style. First, a four on his leg side with a simple flick of the wrist and then an effortless six! But oh no, that's a runout! Bairstow's shot straight down the ground is directed towards the opposite wicket by Umesh, and Warner (6) walks off. An early breakthrough for RCB. Manish Pandey comes on in the place of his captain. SRH are 18/1 after 1.4 overs.
David Warner and Jonny Bairstow are at the crease. A long-haired Dale Steyn opens the attack, and Warner smacks him for a brilliant four to deep extra cover. The Australian starts well, takes a two on the next ball. SRH are 6/0 after the first over.
