Pune: Car rams container truck; five killed

Pune: Five people lost their lives in a major accident that took place at Yavat on Monday. Five people were killed in a collision between a car and a container truck. The car was travelling to Pune from Solapur and was following a container truck with which it collided at around at the wee hours of Monday.

According to the police officials, the mishap took place on the Yavat (Daund Tehsil), Pune-Solapur Highway which is 46 km from Pune. All the five passengers in the car were killed on the spot amid the vehicle’s high speed and its following influence after hitting the truck, police informed. The container was heading towards Mumbai via Pune.

Hindustan Times quoted, S Pansare, station house officer (SHO), Yavat police station as saying, “The car was following the container truck, which came to an abrupt halt. This led the car to ram into the container truck and all five persons in the vehicle were killed.”

A case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) is registered against the truck driver at Yavat police station.
