2021 MINI Hopkirk Edition Honors The 1964 Monte Carlo Rally Winner

MINI has made a new addition to its lineup on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, with the introduction of the Hopkirk Edition.

Based on the Cooper S hardtop two-door and set to arrive at U.S. dealers in November, it celebrates the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally win with the then 30-year old Northern Irish driver Patrick ‘Paddy’ Hopkirk behind the wheel.

The model features special touches consisting of the exclusive exterior paintwork, in the style of the classic rally car, complete with the #37 on the doors, ‘Paddy Hopkirk Monte Carlo’ inscription and a white bonnet stripe with Hopkirk’s signature and the ’33 EJB’ that reminds of the number plate of the rally car.

Hopkirk’s signature also adorns other parts of the car such as the tailgate, door entry sills and the dashboard on the passenger’s side.

It rides on 17-inch JCW light alloy wheels finished in black, and has dark accents on the grille, door handles, fuel filler cap and head- and taillight surrounds, and black MINI logos. The LED headlamps, Union Jack taillights, Excitement Package and Comfort Access are all standard.

Pricing for the new Hopkirk Edition has yet to be announced for the U.S., but expect to pay more than the regular Cooper S, which has an MSRP of $26,900, though probably not as much as the John Cooper Works, which boasts 228 HP for a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) of 5.9 seconds and a 153 mph (246 km/h) top speed and come in at $32,900.

Speaking of power and performance, the 2.0-liter-powered Cooper S, with 189 HP and 207 lb-ft (281 Nm) of torque, does the 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds and tops out at 146 mph (235 km/h).

In the UK, it is already up for grabs, starts at £27,405 (equal to $35,397), and is limited to 100 cars.
