In the last five months, 6.09 lakh low voltage consumers in five districts of Pune Regional Division have sent meter readings to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). Maharashtra State Energy Minister Dr Nitin Raut informed that "MSEDCL had provided the facility to send meter readings to the consumers during the lockdown period. After seeing the response of the consumers, directed to maintain this facility even after unlocking and to extend the deadline for sending meter readings. Accordingly, the deadline for sending readings has been increased from 24 hours to five days."

The Power consumers in Pune district are at the forefront in sending electricity meter readings every month. Last April, 74590, May-105173, June-74314, July-101731 and in August, 89494 consumers have sent meter readings to MSEDCL through their mobile app and MSEDCL's website www.mahadiscom.in.

In the last five months, Pune city - 235417, Pimpri Chinchwad city - 119590 and Pune rural areas 90295 consumers have sent readings by themselves.

MSEDCL is taking photo readings of meters from low voltage consumers on a fixed date from 1st to 25th of every month. Customers are requested to send their readings in person by SMS one month before the due date. Customers will be able to send KWh readings and photos of the meter in person within five days of receiving this message.

After clicking on 'Submit Meter Reading' in MSEDCL mobile app, mention the meter number. When taking meter readings, the photo should be taken only after the date and time on the screen of the electricity meter and the number of readings and KWh (excluding KW or KVA).

Then mention and submit in the manual reading app as per the photo. Meter readings can be submitted directly after logging in to the mobile app. However, while submitting the meter reading as a guest, the OTP number received on the registered mobile has to be mentioned.

Customers who want to upload photos and meter readings from the website www.mahadiscom.in need to register and log in with the customer number. As it is also possible to verify the bill with various benefits, the consumers should send their own meter readings every month, appealed Pune Regional Director Ankush Nala.
