Sensex crashes 812 points; Nifty tests 11,250

Equity indices finished lower on Monday with the benchmark BSE sensex plunging over 800 points amid global sell off. The 30-share BSE index finished 812 points or 2.09% lower at 38,034; while the broader NSE Nifty settled 254 points or 2.21% lower at 11,250. On the currency front, rupee strengthened 7 paise and closed at 73.38 (provisional) against the US dollar.
