Sensitise cops on detainee rights: HC to DGPs

The Punjab and Haryana high court has asked the DGPs of Haryana and Punjab to sensitise police officials of both the states, at regular intervals, about several parameters determined by the Supreme Court (SC) in D K Basu case (judgment passed in 1997) and related guidelines regarding the safeguard or rights of detainee/arrested persons, to be followed by police officials while on duty.
