These have been included in the First Schedule to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

NIA investigations have revealed that IS is actively increasing its activities in Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. The agency has largely broken these networks. It is expected that soon the NIA will break the final episode and eliminate the IS and its allied organizations.
