A couple created ruckus at COVID testing centre in Pune when asked to stand-in queue

Pune: Pune, the coronavirus capital of the country which is witnessing a spike in the spread of the novel coronavirus is making buzz every day. There are many news of poor facility at COVID centres, unavailability of beds but this news is little ‘offbeat’.

A couple in Pune was arrested for allegedly creating chaos at a COVID-19 testing centre, damaging patients’ samples and testing kits in Ambegaon on Wednesday.

Both, incidentally, tested positive for the contagion. The couple, who were visiting the centre at Laxmibai Hazare Hostel for COVID test, lost their temper when employees from the administration urged them to stand in a queue, said an official of the Bharti Vidyapeeth police station.

News agency PTI, quoted an official as saying, “There were two queues, one for common people and another for employees of Pune Municipal Corporation. The staff at the centre asked them to go and stand in the queue meant for common citizens, which irked them.”

He added, “They created a scene, threw samples and testing kits on the floor and used intimidating language. We have booked them under various sections of IPC and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984.”

Both the suspect tested positive for the novel coronavirus and are currently undergoing treatment, he added.
