Kaizer Chiefs ended a week of speculation on Thursday afternoon when they announced former Wits mentor, Gavin Hunt as their new head coach.
Hunt replaces Ernst Middendorp who was sacked by the club last Wednesday after narrowly missing out on the league title to Mamelodi Sundowns
Chiefs believe that Hunt, who has tasted success often in local football, is the right man to end the club's trophy drought which goes back to the 2014/2015 season.
"We believe that with Hunt we have brought in a person with the right experience and energy to do just that," Chiefs supremo, Kaizer Motaung said in a statement announcing the signing.
Naturally, after the announcement, Twitter went into overdrive as Chiefs fans (and others) took to social media to let their thoughts be known.

Gavin Hunt to Kaizer Chiefs is a big deal…
— Joe Crann (@YesWeCrann) September 17, 2020
Gav has done great work at several clubs, so I’m fascinated to see how he does with one of South Africa’s giants.
His pedigree is unquestionable, and Naturena desperately needs a shake up. He’ll bring them that. pic.twitter.com/mOWVETAhhM
Now that Gavin Hunt to Kaizer Chiefs is a done deal, they should scrap their mediocre transfer policy. Gavin Hunt should be the one buying players not Bobby. pic.twitter.com/YfqgxiUlTX

The only way Gavin Hunt can be successful at Chiefs is when he is given total control of the team, without interference from the so called Kasi football specialists, who have never won anything as coaches

So now that that Gavin Hunt has signed with Kaizer Chiefs, it means it's the end of Pitso Mosimane's dominance??? But how when Gavin Hunt has been there the whole time in the reign of Pitso? pic.twitter.com/Xbrlrim8yI

"Four-time League Winner" being the most important part of the headline!!! https://t.co/HVgo7n9vuC
Kaizer Chiefs fans are happy for the appointment of Gavin Hunt from Wits, but that won't automatically help the club to win trophies. Coach doesn't play on the field, so the woes are still going to happen as long as there is still Willard Katsande and Parker.???????????? pic.twitter.com/HkurhmoQX0

Robert Marawa is really excited about Gavin Hunt signing for his favourite team Kaizer Chiefs hey and this "Game over" jab is directed at Pitso and Mamelodi Sundowns FC's domination if you're slow to catch ON...
