Bringing back Hannebery 'looks like a risk worth taking'

Brett Ratten says the prospect of including midfielder Dan Hannebery for his first game since round five "looks like a risk worth taking" as St Kilda look to nail down a finals spot against GWS on Friday night.

Holding a 9-7 record and a healthy percentage of 111.4, the Saints will make at least one change after Zak Jones suffered a minor hamstring strain in last week's loss to West Coast. St Kilda will also look to tinker with their team balance, meaning Jake Carlisle is in contention to play.

Hannebery joined the Saints in Noosa this week after spending two weeks in the AFL's transition hub on the Gold Coast, where he underwent intensive training with Geelong's Gary Ablett and Richmond's Shane Edwards.

Ratten didn't shy away from 29-year-old Hannebery's injury history as the Saints weigh up the risks associated with bringing him back in the final home-and-away round instead of a likely elimination final.

"That's probably the conversation this afternoon," Ratten said.

"When you're here and you watch him run around and everything looks good – he's vocal, he's a leader of our team and he influences others – so you say that would be nice to have him on board. But we do have to consider the other things as well."

Ratten said Hannebery, who had surgery in Victoria this year for a hamstring tendon injury, had done "a helluva lot of work" in the transition hub, where he was supported by Jarryd Roughead.

"He's probably been able to do a little bit more work earlier being in the hub, and having the opportunity to work one-on-one and training more specifically.

"The hub life's probably been good for him."

St Kilda are going through all scenarios, including the possibility that the former Swan is picked to play on Friday night before getting more match practice during the AFL's gap period before the finals

"We've thrown a lot of things up and that's probably the last bit of the puzzle," Ratten says.

"He might be able to – depending on how things fall – he might be able to get in that bye week another game in as well.

"It's a risk, but it looks like a risk worth taking."

Ratten conceded the Saints were contemplating adjusting their team structure, with Dylan Roberton also in the mix for what would be just his second match of 2020.

"We thought we let one slip," reflected Ratten on last week's defeat against West Coast. But he took a glass-half-full stance when reflecting on the season.

"Really at the start of the year if you said we were going to be nine and seven going into the last round with the opportunity to play finals, we would have put our hand up every day of the week.

"We've played some really good football through the year, but we just let ourselves down in periods.

"The Geelong game, the Collingwood game – they're the two that they blew us away. But outside of that, we've been in every game."

Supreme Court Grants Relief To Vedanta, Videocon In Ravva Oil Field Case

In a major setback to the central government and big relief to Vedanta Ltd. and Videocon, the Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld a foreign arbitration award to recover $499 million, instead of $198 million capped by the Centre for Development of Ravva Oil and Gas fields off the Andhra Coast between 2000 and 2007.

The top court upheld Delhi High Court's order which refused to interfere with the arbitral award in production sharing contract (PSC) for Ravva oil fields in the Krishna Godavari basin. Vedanta (formerly Cairn India) and Videocon had entered into PSC for Ravva oil fields and as per the contract Vedanta and Videocon was allowed to recover $198 million. However, the government claimed that it had recovered $499 million.

Following the conflict between government and Vedanta, they entered into arbitration in Malaysia which favoured Vedanta. In July 2014, the Malaysian Court of Appeals upheld the arbitral award allowing additional recoveries to Vedanta.

After Delhi High Court refused to interfere with the arbitral award in favour of Vedanta, the centre moved the top court in June.

The Supreme Court in today's ruling said that Malaysian court rightly examined Ravva oil field arbitration award and arbitral award doesn't offend public policy of India as it is a subsequent event.

The top court added that enforcement court can't reassess evidence available.

Most likely, the Hummer EV will be offered in two body types- Pick-Up and three-row SUV. It has always been admired for its enormous size and robust demeanour and the EV will too emulate the design language, with many elements being carried over, for instance the bold six-slat grille that adds to the imposing front end. That said, the cabin will be a huge step-up from what we have seen in the Hummer before with high-end materials and big digital displays for instruments and infotainment. Surprisingly, there will be removable roof panels as well adding to its lifestyle vehicle status.

Nissan has unveiled the Z Proto, signaling the company's intent to launch a new generation of the legendary Z sports car. Shown at a virtual event the prototype car features a new design inside and out, as well as a V-6 twin turbocharged engine with a manual transmission. The Nissan Z Proto pays homage to 50 years of Z heritage.

Penned and developed by the design team in Japan, the Z Proto boasts of a fresh, attractive exterior design with a silhouette that looks more like the old model. It sports a bright yellow pearlescent paint – a tribute to a popular paint scheme on both the first generation Z (S30) and the 300ZX (Z32) – and a black roof.

Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida said, “The Z, as a pure sports car, represents the spirit of Nissan. It's a key model in our Nissan NEXT transformation plan, and it's proof of our ability to do what others don't dare to do, from A to Z. As a Z fan myself, I'm excited to announce that the next Z is coming."

The shape of the hood and the canted, teardrop-shaped LED headlights are both unmistakable reminders of the original Z. The rectangular grille's dimensions are similar to the current model with the addition of oval grille fins to offer an updated modern look. The form continues to exude both sportiness and elegance.

The link to the original Z is most striking when viewing the Z Proto from the side. The roofline flows from the nose to the squared-off rear to create a distinctive first-generation Z profile whose rear edge was slightly lower than the front fender height giving the Z its unique posture. The signature transition from the rear quarter glass to the low-slung position of the rear tail adds to the effect.

The rear takes inspiration from the 300ZX (Z32) taillights, reinterpreted for the modern world. Set within a rectangular black section that runs across the rear and wraps around the outer edges, the LED taillights convey a sharp glow. Lightweight carbon fibre treatments on the side skirts, front lower lip and rear valance are all there to enhance performance and the 19-inch alloy wheels and dual exhausts complete the Z Proto's looks.

The interior design team sought advice from professional motorsports legends to give the Z Proto an ideal sports car cabin, both for road and track. This can be seen in the Z's instrumentation. All vital information is found in the 12.3-inch digital meter display and arranged to help the driver grasp it at a glance, such as the redline shift point at the twelve o-clock position.

The new, deep dish steering wheel offers the driver quick access controls without losing its vintage aesthetic. Yellow accents are found throughout the cabin, including stitching on the instrument panel. The seats feature special yellow accenting and a layered gradation stripe in the centre of the seats to create depth.

Ajit Doval, team walked out of Shanghai Cooperation Organization over doctored map by Pak (File)

    New Delhi:

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and the Indian team walked out a meet of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization hosted by Russia after Pakistan used a doctored map as a background for its representative. The map showed Indian territories as part of Pakistan. The Indian side's move was a protest against Pakistan's blatant violation of norms, the foreign ministry said on Tuesday.

Asked about the issue, ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said in a statement: "The Pakistani NSA deliberately projected a fictitious map that Pakistan has recently been propagating. This was in blatant disregard to the advisory by the host (Russia) against it and in violation of the norms of the meeting."

After consultation with the host, the Indian side left the meeting in protest at that juncture, the statement added.

"As was to be expected, Pakistan then went on to present a misleading view of this meeting," the statement further read.

The map, issued by Prime Minister Imran Khan on August 4, claims territories of India - Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Sir Creek in Gujarat -- as parts of Pakistan. India had rubbished it as an "exercise in political absurdity" with no legal validity.

Government sources said Islamabad's use of the fictitious map, depicting sovereign Indian territories as part of Pakistan, is a blatant violation of the SCO Charter. It is also against all its established norms of safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of SCO Member States.

India, sources said, has issued strong objection to the use of this illegal map by Pakistan.

The Russian side, as the Chair, had tried very hard to persuade Pakistan not to do so. Russia does not support what Pakistan has done and hopes that Pakistan's provocative act will not affect India's participation in SCO, sources said.

Over the last year, Pakistan has been attempting to highlight Kashmir at most international forums. But showing such a map in violation of protocol became possible as the meeting was virtual owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
