GNIDA allots Rs 20cr for horticulture work

Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Authority has sanctioned Rs 20 crore for the upkeep of parks, green belts and other services in different sectors of the city, in the wake of increasing complaints from residents.
Officials said they have floated as many as 36 tenders for such horticulture-related work across the city, which were delayed due to Covid lockdown. Of these, seven tenders worth Rs 3.26 crore have already been allotted to private contractors for these jobs in sectors Alpha 1 & 2, Sigma 3 & 4, Ecotech 1 and Techzone 4 area.
Ten more tenders of Rs 2.47 crore will be allotted in the last week of September for sectors Delta 1, 2 and 3 and Knowledge Park 4, and the remaining 19 of Rs 13.79 crore by October 15, officials said.
“During pandemic, we have not cut down on government spending as the aim is to generate economic movement. It is in this light we have begun issuing various tenders which got delayed due to Covid lockdown. We have also notified the names of the contractors, along with their mobile numbers, for accountability and transparency as we aim to ensure time-bound work,” said GNIDA CEO Narendra Bhooshan.
Residents have welcomed the move. “We have long been complaining about overgrown bushes and trees in parks, central verges and other green belts in different sectors of the city. We want them to clean the filth from parks, repair broken patches and also prune overgrown trees,” said Harinder Bhati, resident of Sector Beta 1 in Greater Noida.
