Brandi Glanville has lifted the lid on her salacious affair with Denise Richards revealing she first became intimate with her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star TEN days after Denise married her husband Aaron Phypers.

In an exclusive interview with DailyMailTV, Brandi spilled all the intimate details of the secret tryst, revealing how 'sexually aggressive' Denise instigated the affair by demanding to see her breasts before throwing her up against a bathroom wall in a restaurant and kissing her passionately.

The star, once married to Hollywood wild man Charlie Sheen, then lured Brandi into bed by inviting her on set during a movie she was filming with her ex boyfriend Patrick Muldoon.

But Brandi, 47, claims that after they slept together Denise freaked out saying her husband Aaron would kill her if he ever found out - even though she had claimed they had an open relationship.

'I felt she wanted to hit it and quit it. She was very sexually aggressive and once she got what she wanted, she didn't want to know,' explained Brandi.

The current RHOBH season has been roiled by drama after Brandi first revealed the affair on camera, first exclusively revealed by DailyMail.com.

And the blonde star spoke out after Denise has repeatedly denied the affair amid a torrent of headlines about the tryst, branding her comments 'BS'.

Asked for a response to Brandi's slew of accusations, a representative for Denise simply said: 'Not true'.

Brandi says Denise, 49, has even threatened her with legal action, issuing a cease and desist letter in a bid to keep her silent.

'I really didn't think it was going to be as huge as it is. It's literally everywhere,' says Brandi.

'However, I think the denial with Denise has made it a huge deal, especially since it's all over Housewives.

We went into the bathroom and I showed her my boobs and right when I took my shirt down, she just kind of threw me against the wall and started making out with me.

'All I'm interested in is getting the truth out there.'

Brandi first met Denise on September 18, 2018 at Rande Gerber's upscale Café Habana restaurant in Malibu.

Brandi had just left the Celebrity Big Brother House and her agent told her he was taking on Denise as a client and wanted them to meet so Brandi could give her some advice about appearing on RHOBH.

'We went to dinner and Denise is sitting across from me and the whole time she is looking at my boobs,' recalls Brandi.

'Then our agent left because it was getting late for him, but we stayed because we were having a great time, we were hitting it off.

'And then Denise said to me: "Oh my God, does it seem like I've been looking at your boobs all night?" I'm like, "yeah, pretty much".'

Brandi says mom-of-three Denise then asked to see her breasts in the bathroom because the actress was considering getting hers redone by a surgeon.

The pair had been drinking heavily; Denise tequila and Brandi wine.

'We went into the bathroom and I showed her my boobs and right when I took my shirt down, she just kind of threw me against the wall and started making out with me,' recalls Brandi.

Brandi added: 'And I was down for it, I honestly didn't mind. I was like, okay, what are we doing, but this is fun.

'We were drunk and it's not the first time I've made out with a friend or a girl. I was flattered, it was a compliment. She's a beautiful girl. She's Denise Richards.

'We had a good time and then we went back to the table and had more drinks.'

Brandi says Denise then came on heavy.

'She said to me, "Oh my God, I always wanted to f**k the s**t out of you. And I was like, what? 'But I was going with it. I was having a good time.'

The former fashion model reveals the two women went back to the bathroom for a second time and things became even steamier.

'We were just making out, I had jeans on. There was nothing other than like a little bit of ti**y sucking, but it was sexy,' she said.

When the women, by now heavily intoxicated, decided to leave, Brandi said she left her car behind and ordered an Uber for herself but Denise insisted on driving herself home.

'We were both so drunk. I walked her across the street to her car, where the Ralph's parking lot was, and we made out a little bit again in her car and then this car comes driving up and she's like, "Oh my God it's paparazzi, it's paparazzi, get down".

'I'm like, "I think it's my Uber, babe". There was a little paranoia there. And before we left she was like, "Oh my God, I hope that you would never tell anyone about this, my personal life is my personal life. I trust you".

'To me it was not a big deal, two girls getting drunk and making out, but of course I didn't know she was married at this point, she never mentioned Aaron once.'

Brandi said Denise did say she wanted to see her again, however, and it wasn't long before she was bombarding the beauty with texts.

'It was nonstop from her after the first night we met,' recalls Brandi. 'She wanted to finish what she started, that's how I felt.'

Brandi said: 'To me it was not a big deal, two girls getting drunk and making out, but of course I didn't know she was married at this point, she never mentioned Aaron once.' Denise married husband Aaron on September 8, 2018.

But Brandi says she fobbed Denise off with a string of excuses so things wouldn't go too far.

'She was literally texting me every single day. "Oh, I'm in your neighborhood, can I just come over? Can I come over? I need to see you".

'I said, well, "I can meet you for a drink, I can meet you at dinner". I just didn't want to be alone with her, because I felt that she had a lot of dude energy, like she really wanted me.

'I felt almost like it was a guy that wanted to hit it and quit it. Like he wanted to get what he wanted, but this was Denise.

'All I wanted was a new friend that I liked, that was cool and drank. I really was not looking for any kind of sexual partner, I felt like I was running from her.'

Brandi says the two of them didn't really see each other until they shot a scene together for RHOBH in November that year.

All night we talked about sex and how he (Aaron) was okay as long as she was with a girl, she could never be with a guy.

And immediately after filming ended Brandi was given an insight into the alleged open marriage Denise has with husband Aaron.

'After filming we were like, 'let's just go out and party",' Brandi recalls.

'We went back to the scene of the crime Café Habana and her husband Aaron met up with us and we were all getting very hammered.'

Brandi claims it wasn't long before the newly married couple began openly talking about having threesomes with other women.

She also claims her first intimate encounter with Denise was brought up and Aaron was fully aware.

She said: 'They got on the subject of how do they get other women to come into their marriage and into their bed? They asked if I could help them? And I'm like, "um, call Charlie Sheen".

'All night we talked about sex and how he (Aaron) was okay as long as she was with a girl, she could never be with a guy.

'It was an interesting conversation and it just made me feel like, okay, these are very sexual people that are very open.'

At some point in the night Brandi and Denise locked lips and took a photo that was sent to Andy Cohen and later posted on Twitter on June 27 this year.

Brandi says that after that meeting Denise carried on pursuing her over text.

DailyMailTV has seen dozens of text exchanges between the two women which show they had a very close friendship.

'We spoke a lot but I continued to make myself unavailable,' Brandi said.

And it wouldn't be until late April 2019 that the two women would see each other again.

Brandi said she wanted Denise to appear on her podcast, which at the time was her only income, but Denise was out of town filming a movie.

'She was filming with her ex Patrick Muldoon and Denise suggested I come to the set in Mendocino, I was reluctant at first but I knew Denise being on my podcast would do really well, so I agreed, I have to put food on the table.

'I did feel a little bit like it was her way of finally getting me alone, but I knew what I was getting myself into.

'It's not that I didn't like Denise, I just didn't want to have sex with her.'

Brandi flew to Mendocino, a beautiful coastal town in northern California, and stayed in a cottage with Denise at the Mendocino Hotel.

Denise had been filming the Christmas movie My Adventures with Santa in which her and her ex Patrick played husband and wife.

Brandi recalled that after a night of drinking with Denise: 'I was really ready to pass out. And the next thing I know we're making out, she's on top of me and our clothes are off. And yeah, we're going at it, we had sex.' Pictured: Denise showing Brandi the hotel she was at

Brandi admits she bit Denise several in the throes of passion in what she claims was an attempt to put her off sex. 'It's not that I don't think she's a beautiful, attractive woman. I just put myself in a situation that I didn't want to be in,' she explained. Brandi admits she went to Mendocino with her eyes open though, saying: 'I put myself in that situation, so I'm not a victim'

Denise, who had her daughter and her daughter's friend staying with her, had promised Brandi a roll away bed to sleep on but one never materialized.

'When I arrived, I met up with her and Patrick and we all hit it off and were having a great time,' she said.

'Patrick and I were just being silly and we started kissing. I think in a weird way, I was making out with him just to put off having to make out with Denise.'

Denise went to bed early to phone her husband so when Brandi came to bed she was already asleep.

The following day, Denise went off to film and Brandi looked around Mendocino with her daughter and friend.

After Denise and Patrick finished on set the trio started drinking and Brandi recorded a podcast with Patrick in his hotel room.

'I thought it was great. We were all wildly drunk, and Patrick said, "so did you hook up with Denise last night after you left me?"

'And I said, no, what are you talking about? But he said, "Brandi, I dated the girl for five years, I know she likes girls".

'That night we all got even more drunk than the night before and went back to Denise's cottage. 'The girls were asleep in their room.

'Patrick went back to his room and Denise and I went upstairs.

'I was really ready to pass out. And the next thing I know we're making out, she's on top of me and our clothes are off. And yeah, we're going at it, we had sex.

'But Denise said to me, "I don't understand, you seem like you're not into it". And I wasn't, I just didn't want to do it.'

But the morning after they slept together she was shocked by Denise's reaction. 'She was like, "wow, you left marks all over my body and Aaron, if he ever finds out, he's gonna kill me. He can never find out". I literally did a double take and I was silent for a few minutes. I am not good with secrets. They make me uncomfortable.'  Wow, you left marks all over my body and Aaron, if he ever finds out, he's gonna kill me. He can never find out.

'And as far as I was aware Aaron was one million per cent aware that Denise and I made out the first night we met because we talked about it.

'He also knew I was going to Mendocino and I was sleeping in the same bed as her, so I was shocked by what she was saying.'

That day Brandi, Denise, Patrick and the two girls went horseback riding and Brandi processed what had happened.

When she got home she also told her closest friends what went down.

'You know, the conclusion I came to was that Aaron wouldn't care less about it but this was her way of having something over me and making sure I never talk about it to anyone else,' she said.

Brandi, who has two teenage boys with her ex-husband Eddie Cibrian, says following that weekend she did not see Denise for more than six months because she made herself 'unavailable'.

'The first time I saw her was on Housewives in November and I was so nervous because I didn't know whether to be like, "screw you" or to shut up and not let anyone know because I was ashamed,' she said.

'And I thought people were going to judge me - you're a cheater, you're sleeping with a married woman. And so I had this weight on my shoulders.'

When rumors of her affair with Brandi first circulated earlier this year Denise bluntly denied them, telling Entertainment Tonight: 'I was very much caught off guard, and the subject matter that seems to be in all the tabloids of late is - I think it's kind of disgusting that they even talk about it'

And it was after a drunken sleep over at Brandi's close friend and RHOBH veteran star Kim Richards that the truth came out.

Brandi said she confided in Kim about the affair because she felt safe.

But Kim knew the revelation was a bombshell for the show so convinced her to say something.

Brandi dropped the bombshell news at a sit-down dinner with the rest of the RHOBH cast.

'I f***ed her, woke up the next morning [and] she said, "Aaron can never know this. He'll kill me",' Brandi told Kyle Richards, Dorit Kemsley, Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave, Lisa Rina and Erika Girardi on the show — seemingly before Denise's arrival.

The women were all in shock following the reveal.

In an episode aired in June this year the housewives later confront Denise in Rome about the alleged affair, to which she tearfully responds: 'What the f***?'

'That is not true,' says Denise. Denise's rep also denied the affair to multiple media outlets who followed up on the story at the time.

Later in the show some of the RHOBH cast struggled to believe Brandi's claims, but when she produced a series of text messages proving her and Denise were close most of the women began to back her.

'I think as far as Kyle, Kim, Lisa Rina and Erika go, they know I'm a straight shooter. They know I'm not going to make anything up,' says Brandi.

'Dorit, I can't even speak about, but I said, listen, here you go, look at all of the messages please.

'And they were like, okay, Denise is 100 percent lying. And it really did feel like, "Oh my gosh, thank God somebody believes me".

Brandi said: 'I was super shocked when Denise said that she was leaving the show. She's a strong woman. She said she wanted closure all year, so sit down with me and get closure. 'I think that she just needs more of a narrative that she can control. And you know what, maybe she's just not built for reality television.' She added: 'I just want to know why she made up all the lies.'

'But that's something they choose to, and I've had worse things said so I can rise above it. I have a very solid marriage and my husband and I, we just rise above it. People will say what they'll say, and in the big picture, we can't worry about that stuff.'

Denise was asked whether she had told Aaron about the claims Brandi made, and Denise said 'yes.'

'Aaron and I don't have any secrets from each other, and if I did come home and say, ''Hey, I slept with Brandi,'' he would be like, ''How come I wasn't invited?'',' she emphasized.

Brandi said: 'I was super shocked when Denise said that she was leaving the show. She's a strong woman. She said she wanted closure all year, so sit down with me and get closure.

Verdict

The Vivo Y55s is a depandable smartphone, and it'll reach more people, being sold offline. It's good to know that offline buyers have a dependable phone to buy, but in the market at large, the Y55s is simply not up to its competition. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 costs about the same and is faster, with better battery life and faster performance. On the other hand, the Moto G5 Plus costs much more, but has a vastly better camera, faster performance and better battery life too. The Vivo Y55s is appreciable, but not what we would recommend.

Vivo Y55S detailed review

The performance gap between a sub-15K smartphone and a flagship device is thinning with each passing year. However, there are often devices that don’t look powerful on paper, but still perform well. The Vivo Y55s is a good example of the same. The device looks, feels and functions like a budget smartphone and makes one wonder whether benchmarks are really the proof of performance.

Build and Design
Vivo's smartphones have resembled Apple's iPhones in the past, and so does this one. However, that also means its a good looking phone, or at least that's what I think. The metal back feels nice and the rounded edges help provide comfortable grip. A thin metal strip runs around the phone, separating the front from the metal back, adding an unique feel to a phone that otherwise looks pretty much like all of Vivo's other devices. Both the power key and volume rocker are on the right, you get a dual SIM card slot on the left and a dedicated microSD slot on the top.

The build quality, on the other hand, is pretty much the industry average for budget smartphones. I've travelled with this in my pocket and inadvertently put my keys and coins in the same pocket, but the Vivo Y55s came out scratch free. Now, I don't recommend that you do this, but it's good to escape unscathed. At least the metal back seems resistant to scratches, while tempered glass comes installed on the display out-of-the-box.

Display and UI
Displays on budget devices have evolved over the years, but there are many that lack quality. The Vivo Y55s is amongst the former, though. Colour saturation and viewing angles are good and at par with the likes of Honor 6X and Coolpad Cool 1. Touch response is also decent and I didn't find the experience lacking in any way.

That said, it isn't without flaws. I definitely felt the low pixel density on the display, as the 5.2-inch panel only has 720p resolution. Moreover, it's quite dim. In fact, at 220 lux luminance, it's one of the dimmest panels I have seen on any device. This affects sunlight visibility too, which could have been better.

Vivo has not changed the UI from what we saw on the V5 Plus some months back. In fact, it adheres to the same iOS-themed interface it has been using since launch. The UI is more refined now, though, and doesn't tax the memory as much, which in a way is a good thing. It caters all the features you would expect from a Chinese UI, including, but not limited to, themes, a phone manager, a third party app store (V-App store), a pre-installed keyboard, and more. There are a few gesture-based features, such as smart split that basically is a split screen mode, and a dedicated one handed-mode that shrinks the UI to be used in one hand.

Performance
Setting aside the iOS-like UI, the phone really surprises with its performance. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC and bundled with 3GB of RAM, the phone does a fine job, providing dependable experience. Using it as a daily driver with all the basic apps, including Facebook, Whatsapp, Youtube, Gmail, Maps, Wynk, Pocket, Chrome and more, I had no issues with performance. Even when I tested games like Asphalt 8 and Marvel’s Contest of Champions, the phone was able to provide stable frame rates of 29 fps, which is reasonable for the price. However, synthetic benchmarks don't really reflect the same.

Here's the thing though. While this kind of performance is good, it's available at much cheaper prices as well. At Rs. 12,490, there are better performers out there. The Vivo Y55s isn't meant for those who multitask a lot, neither is it meant for avid gamers. It does the job, but only reasonably so. Given that you can get more, it's tough to justify the Snapdragon 425 and HD display.

During gaming and even while shooting video (it can do FHD at best), the phone does heat up. I recorded max temperatures of about 41 degree celsius under ideal outdoor conditions, in the middle of the day. This, though, may be tougher to manage during the summers.

As for the audio, the bottom firing speaker isn't the best. It is loud enough to be heard in on roads, but you'd want headphones for listening to music. It's not the best for calling, either. The Vivo Y55s often dropped connections in areas where most other phones were performing well, while on the same network. For call quality, the earpiece volume is lower than most phones.

Battery
This brings us to the battery, which is just good enough for a work-day’s worth of usage. The phone lasted 5 hours and 31 minutes on the PCMark Work 2.0 Battery Test, which is definitely not in the Redmi Note 4 territory, but not bad either. The 2730mAh battery seems well optimised as well and there are no worrisome drops even if you are playing video games, recordings videos or just using navigation. In my test period, I did not find the battery life insufficient on a day-to-day basis, even with half an hour of gaming and at least an hour of music streaming.

Camera
The camera, however, is a hit or miss. Photos shot in bright outdoor conditions by the 8MP rear camera produce sharp colours that are noticeably oversaturated, along with soft details. The sharpness levels are fairly decent, but object edges are compromised because of the lack of fine details. Most photographs tend to produce noise, which still remain limited in brightly lit conditions.

Colour details are fairly decent for its price, but the dynamic range is not exemplary. Things change for the worse as the light diminishes, with photographs getting expectedly noisier and more pixelated details. The camera spikes ISO to high levels which leads to the soft noise that mars details, and in all of this, the focusing is also slower than other phones in contention.

The Vivo Y55s can shoot 1080p videos with autofocus, which for the most part, looks good. In addition, there are slow motion and time-lapse modes as well, which work as intended.

The front-facing camera is only average at best, and the beauty mode noticeably softens skin tones, that we saw on the Vivo V5 lineup.

Bottomline
The Vivo Y55s is in many ways is a good budget device. It ignored the specs war, but manages to do most things right. It looks good, performs well, has a functional UI, along with a day's worth of battery life. A good camera would have completed the package, but I guess you still can't have everything on a budget. However, there are far better smartphones available in this price range. For example, the Moto G5 Plus may be more expensive, but it is much faster and has a vastly better camera. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 can do everything the Vivo V5 can, but better. It is also noticeably faster, making the V5's optimised performance look weak. While the Snapdragon 425 has been used well here, the 625s and 650s in this price range are just too fast to overcome with simple software optimisations.

The Vivo Y55s will reach more, being sold offline, and it's good to know that they have a dependable phone for themselves. However, in the market at large, this phone pales in comparison to its competitors.

BERLIN: The German government on Wednesday welcomed news that poisoned Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny’s condition has further improved, and confirmed that Moscow has sent a second request for judicial assistance to Germany in the case.

Navalny, who fell ill on a domestic flight in Russia on Aug. 20, on Tuesday posted a selfie photo from Berlin’s Charit hospital where he has been treated for almost four weeks. “I still cant do almost anything on my own, but yesterday I managed to breathe on my own for the entire day, he wrote.

The German government is relieved about the latest news from the Charit, according to which the health situation of Alexei Navalny has further improved,” government spokeswoman Ulrike Demmer told reporters, citing his social media. That is encouraging and the German government wishes Mr. Navalny a quick and complete recovery.

Germany has demanded that Russia should answer questions about Navalny’s poisoning, after a German military laboratory confirmed the presence in his body of Novichok a Soviet-era nerve agent previously linked to the attempted assassination of Kremlin critics.

Russia has rejected the suggestion that it was involved in Navalny’s poisoning. The affair has added to pre-existing friction between Berlin and Moscow over issues such as Ukraine, Syria, and alleged Russian intelligence activity on German soil.

Demmer declined to say whether German Chancellor Angela Merkel planned to meet Navalny any time soon. But she confirmed that, despite speaking out prominently on the Navalny case, she has not so far discussed it directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Separately, Germany’s justice ministry said it has received a second request for judicial assistance from Russia.

On Sept. 14 the Russian prosecutor general approached the Federal Office of Justice with a second judicial assistance request, ministry spokesman Marius Leber said. It is currently being examined.

Moscow has accused Germany of failing to provide information necessary for investigators examining the case.

Opendoor To Go Public In Social Capital Merger In $4.8 Billion Deal

Opendoor Labs Inc, the homeselling platform backed by SoftBank Group , said on Tuesday it has agreed to go public through a merger with a blankcheck company led by venture investor Chamath Palihapitiya in a deal that will value the company at $4.8 billion.

  • Last Updated: September 16, 2020, 3:12 AM IST

Opendoor Labs Inc, the home-selling platform backed by SoftBank Group , said on Tuesday it has agreed to go public through a merger with a blank-check company led by venture investor Chamath Palihapitiya in a deal that will value the company at $4.8 billion.

Opendoor buys properties from sellers and makes repairs, at a service charge, then lists them for sale. As part of the deal with Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings Corp II , Opendoor will get $1 billion cash, including $600 million from Palihapitiya and other investors such as BlackRock and Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.

OpenDoor was hit hard by the pandemic this year, and laid off 35% of its workforce in April. As the home resale business started to recover, it looked for capital to fuel expansion and opted to go public through merging with Social Capital over a traditional initial public offering.

The San Francisco-based firm wanted to access the public market faster and with more certainty, worried the U.S. presidential election and the second wave of coronavirus could cast shadow on its growth, according to a person familiar with the discussions. In a SPAC deal, the funds raised by the company are committed upfront.

The merger is expected to close to by year end. Social Capital II shares jumped almost 35% on Tuesday.

A blank-check company, also known as a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), uses capital raised through an initial public offering to buy a private company, usually within two years. The deal then takes the private company public.

SPACs emerged this year as an alternative route to the public market over a traditional IPO, led in part by successful deals for space tourism company Virgin Galactic Holdings Inc and fantasy sports and gambling company DraftKings Inc .

Social Capital, the blank-check firm backed by Virgin Galactic Chairman Palihapitiya, raised $360 million when it went public in April.

In 2018, SoftBank’s Vision Fund invested $400 million in Opendoor, which was founded in 2014.

National Education Policy backward looking document, says Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge

"Therefore the values of moral education in schools and higher education should be based on the principles of the Constitution and not on ancient cultural values," he added.
Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun KhargeSenior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge
NEW DELHI: Terming the new National Education Policy as a "backward looking document", senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said on Wednesday that education should be based on principles of the Constitution and not on ancient cultural values. Raising the issue as a Zero Hour mention in Rajya Sabha, Kharge, who was recently elected to the upper house, said the entire NEP is a "backward looking document" that is looking 2000 years back instead of planning and preparing our children for the future.

"Therefore the values of moral education in schools and higher education should be based on the principles of the Constitution and not on ancient cultural values," he added.
The NEP-2020 is the first education policy of the 21st century, which was announced 34 years after the previous National Policy on Education in 1986. The NEP-2020 is directed towards major reforms at both the school and higher education level, the government has said

Kharge noted that a provision in the Constitution states that in state and state-aided institutions there should be no religious instructions.

According to Article 28 (1), no religious instructions shall be provided in any educational institutions wholly maintained out of the state fund, he said.

In cities, Kharge said, children who have access to quality nursery education learn to read and write by the time they join class 1.

However, he said poor children in towns and villages will be at a disadvantage because there is no proper policy defined for training of Aanganwadi teachers. Poor children will start with a disadvantage of not having learnt for three years before joining class 1.

"Nearly 50 per cent of students drop out after Class 10. There is no plan that has been suggested to reduce this drop outs. It is estimated that 32.4 per cent of these student drop outs are Dalits, 25.7 per cent minorities and 16.4 per cent are tribals," Kharge said.

Teachers are already burdened with several duties like elections, census and vaccinations etc. which makes it difficult for them to concentrate on teaching and it is impossible to improve the quality of education, the Congress leader said.

Kharge said the focus should be on mathematics, science and english for providing opportunity of development to rural and backward areas.

"Indian culture will be learnt by students through their language and literature classes. Such kind of activism to promote a single culture of Sanskrit or Hindi by the government will only keep children from backward areas out of modern education," he said.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa and SAD member Balwinder Singh Bhunder demanded that Punjabi language should be included in the list of official languages in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Last week, the Union Cabinet approved a bill under which Kashmiri, Dogri and Hindi, apart from the existing Urdu and English, will be the official languages in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

In special mentions, Rajmani Patel demanded establishment of a commonwealth sport centre at Rewa in Madhya Pradesh, while Rakesh Sinha (BJP nominated) sought compulsory disaster management training in schools and colleges.

Amar Patnaik of the BJD wanted formulation of a central sector scheme for the community of weavers.

    Verdict

The 43-inch Daiwa 4K HDR TV has a good panel for 4K and 1080p content consumption considering the price point. HDR content is acceptable. The smart experience is frustrating especially if you are one looking to take advantage of streaming services. If you are looking to invest in a new 43-inch TV or want to dip a toe in the 4K arena, then you can consider it. Just know that the smart experience for content consumption isn’t great.

Daiwa 43-inch 4K TV detailed review

A 4K HDR TV is no longer one for just the premium customer. There are 4K TVs available in every budget. Today we have with us a 4K HDR TV from the house of Daiwa. The TV boasts of 4K resolution along with support for HDR. The TV is available in screen sizes starting at 43-inches going up to 65-inches but the one we have with us today is the 43-inch variant priced at just Rs 26,490. The size of the TV is ideal for a small bedroom but is one to consider?

    Key specifications at a glance

    Panel Size: 43-inch
    Panel Type: IPS
    Panel Resolution: 3840 x 2160 - 4K
    Panel Refresh Rate: 60Hz
    HDR 10 support: Yes
    Dolby Vision Support: No
    HDMI Ports: 3
    USB Ports: 2
    Bluetooth: No
    Wi-Fi: Yes
    Ethernet: Yes
    Speakers: 2 x 10W
CPU: Cortex A73 Dual Core 800MHz
    GPU: Dual Core Mali450-540MHz
    RAM: 1GB
    Built-in storage: 8GB
    OS: Android 7 (AOSP)
    Price: Rs 26,490

    Build and design

Kicking things off with the build of the Daiwa 43-inch 4K TV, it isn’t the slimmest which is okay. What you will notice at the back of the TV are 2 protrusions for the wall mount. They are not a hindrance in any way, just that their presence isn't something that we have seen on other TVs.

The TV has a plastic shell, something we have seen on a large number of budget TVs. The borders of the TV surrounding the display are black and plastic. Since they have a matte finish, they don't really interfere with the viewing experience. Considering the price, the borders are relatively slim and the logo at the bottom bezel is small and minimal. You can choose to either wall mount the TV or put it on a table top. We put the TV on a table top using the two feet that come in the box, which are also made of metal. The metal feet are extremely well built, hold the TV in place firmly and are quite slim. The space between the table and the bottom bezel is just enough to place a set-top-box or a PS4. If you have a PS4 Pro or the Xbox One X, then you may want to move things around as it will not fit under the TV.

Overall, the build of the TV is sturdy, especially the table top stand that comes in the box. It’s design is minimalistic. Considering the price of the TV, the build and design is good.

    Ports and connectivity

When it comes to connectivity, the Daiwa 43-inch 4K TV has three HDMI ports of which HDMI 3 is ARC enabled, and two USB ports. All these ports are placed on the side of the TV for easy access. If you want to use the keyboard feature on the remote control, you will have to use the supplied dongle which will take up one USB port, so keep that in mind. At the back, the TV has an ethernet port, optical audio out port, 2 AV inputs, an RF input for good old antenna and a 3.5mm out in case you want to connect a pair of headphones. The TV also boasts of Wi-Fi but sadly, no bluetooth.

Once again we are happy with the selection of ports on the TV. There is ARC and 3.5mm for your audio options. There are 3 HDMI ports which at this price are enough and 2 RCA inputs for your old PS2 or DVD player or set-top-box.

    Display and picture quality

The Daiwa 43-inch 4K TV has a 10-bit IPS panel that is made by LG. Thanks to the 10-bit panel, the TV boasts of 4K capabilities along with HDR 10 support. A 10-bit panel will help the TV output more colours which is needed for HDR content. To make the most of HDR content the TV needs to be bright as well. Daiwa tells us that the TV has a peak brightness of 350 nits which isn't a lot especially when you consider that the HDR10 standard requires a brightness of 1000 nits. How the TV performs is something we will touch upon in the following sections. Below we will highlight the performance of the TV using three types of content - 4K HDR, 1080p and gaming content.

The above Netflix UI is from the Xbox One X

    4K and HDR playback

For 4K HDR content we played our standard slew of clips from Netflix which included DareDevil, Star Trek and more. Daiwa did tell us that the brightness of the TV is 350 nits which is a lot less than the requirement for HDR but is in line with what we’ve seen on other TVs in this price segment. The good news is that content is well viewable even in a lit room with the downside being that sequences in the dark seem dimmer than they should when watching HDR content. You can switch off the HDR playback via the settings of the TV to get SDR playback and that may help with some content in dimly lit situations. Having said that, the HDR performance of the TV is slightly better than the Mi TV 4A Pro that we reviewed. The Mi TV is a Full HD TV with HDR capabilities sporing an 8-bit panel whereas the Daiwa we have here is a 10-bit panel. So yes, the colours in comparison do look better on the Daiwa along with the HDR performance.

The HDMI source recognises when HDR content is playing

    1080p content

When it comes to Full HD content from sources like Netflix, Prime Videos, Hotstar and YouTube, the Daiwa TV shines. It produces bright images that are easy to view even in a lit room. Movies like Blade Runner 2049 and Spider-Man-Homecom play back with vibrant colours. There is some blooming here and there, especially during the night sequences in Spider-Man Homecoming but it can be attributed to the internet connection at the time. However, it doesnt change the fact that you may notice it when streaming content.

For TV viewing from your set-top-box or even streaming services, the Daiwa 43-inch TV is value for money for the picture quality. The colours are good, brightness is, well, bright and the preset modes are easy to control.

Speaking of modes, be it for 4K HDR content or for Full HD content, you may want to stick with the dynamic or vivid preset as these two are the ones that give the best results. There is a ‘soft’ and ‘eco’ mode available as well but they reduce the backlight too much to have an enjoyable experience. One downside is that there are very few picture settings for you to tinker with manually incase you are one looking to set the picture yourself.

    Gaming

When it comes to gaming, we played Doom in 4K SDR. For indoors sequences, the visuals of the game look detailed and the grey and silver techie interiors mixed with the demonic presence is immersive. However, shift outdoors into the wasteland of Mars and you will see that the saturation on the TV feels off. The orange planet of Mars needs to have a bit more red thrown into the mix to get the colour right.

For 4K HDR gaming, we turned to Gears of War 4, which has vast stormy skies which exhibit a lot of dark shades of red, with bright lightning strikes thrown into the mix. While playing the game, the visual fidelity of the bright and dark areas are maintained decently well and while it isn’t quite as good as a TV three times the price, most people will still feel like this is an upgrade over their SDR gaming experience.

Overall, gaming on the TV is fun. There are a lot of games that give you in game brightness and HDR settings to tinker with and I recommend keeping the TV in Vivid mode. Only tinker with the display settings in the game if you absolutely must.

    Audio

The Daiwa 43-inch 4K HDR TV has 2 down firing 10W speakers. I am generally not a fan of the speakers on a TV but the ones on the Daiwa are decent and get the job done for everyday viewing. Watch the Cyberpunk 2077 E3 2018 trailer on YouTube and you will notice that at 60 percent volume, it sounds loud and room filling. If you watch news via your set top box or shows like Young Sheldon or Big Bang Theory or anything where the vocals are more important than the background score you should be just fine. There is a ‘news mode’ which enhances the vocals of the content you are watching. This works well for soap operas and news content but removes the joy from movies. By using modes like ‘Standard’ and ‘theatre’, you can enjoy the occasional movie but for a good immersive experience, you will need to invest in a soundbar like the Xiaomi Mi Soundbar. You can read our review of the soundbar here

    UI

The Daiwa 43-inch 4K TV runs on Android 7 out of the box but this isn’t an Android TV. It is AOSP. We have reviewed a few AOSP TVs in the past with their own custom launcher and the UI experience has been acceptable with the source of  frustration coming from the apps. Apps like Netflix and Prime Videos are only able to run their mobile versions and not the proper Android TV version. This makes navigating the UI of the app more cumbersome and also reduces the quality of the content playback. You can log into your Google account if you like but updating and downloading new apps is more seamless through the Aptoide app store, especially for streaming services.

The TV also has Sensy Remote. The Sensy UI reminds me of a baby version of PatchWall running on Xiaomi’s TVs. You have access to TV channels in the UI itself and the UI shows you what's playing on each channel and time remaining for the content to finish. So if you see that Game of Thrones is playing on HBO, you will also see the duration left for the episode to finish. Sensy also gives you access to a celebrity database and clicking on a celebrity will bring up information about him/her along with showing you content about him/her that is about to begin or is currently playing on a TV channel.

Overall, Sensy is nice for those that want an internet enabled experience using their set-top-box as the source of content. However, if you are looking to stream content from services like Netflix and Prime Videos, you are better off investing in a device like a Fire TV stick or a gaming console.

    Remote Control

Speaking of the remote control, it has functions on both sides. On one side you have a traditional remote control with functions like power, number pad, source, settings along with shortcuts for YouTube and Netflix. The other side of the remote is a full QWERTY keypad. This is extremely helpful when logging into services like Netflix or Prime Videos (the native apps on the TVs OS). As mentioned above, those services are the mobile version because the TV runs on AOSP so the login process can get quite cumbersome. The QWERTY setup of the remote control is a little wider than I’d like but that’s the compromise of having a 2-in-1 setup. The buttons are rubbery and require you to press them down with some force which is a good thing. This ensures you don’t accidently press the wrong key when using the other side of the remote control.

Speaking of the other side, the traditional controls are easy to use with one hand and the buttons are equally rubbery and clicky as the other (QWERTY) side.

One thing to note is that to use the traditional side of the remote control, you need to point the remote at the TV. However, since the QWERTY side works the USB dongle at the back, you don’t need to point it at the TV which is nice.

Overall, the remote control is functional. The remote adds functions like a mouse pointer and the QWERTY keypad which really help in navigating the UI which can get frustrating at times.

    Bottom Line

There are a bunch of 4K TV’s available around the Rs 25,000 price point. We have a few 43-inch 4K TVs from Thompson and Kodak. The Thompson UD9 runs on AOSP and the experience is similar to what we had on this TV as far as the UI is concerned. We are yet to review the new Kodak 43-inch 4K so stay tuned for that if you want to know when one to get. As far as the Daiwa 43-inch 4K TV is concerned, it has a good panel for Full HD and 4K content consumption and is average for HDR content. If you want to watch content from  your set-top-box, then this TV should do fine. If you want to delve into the world of smart TV capabilities, I suggest investing in a device like the Fire TV stick to get a good smart TV experience. TCL has a 43-inch 1080p Android TV that works on the Google certified Android TV OS.

EDMONTON, Alberta: Jordan Eberle scored on a two-on-one break 12:30 into the second overtime and the New York Islanders avoided elimination with a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference final on Tuesday night.

Semyon Varlamov stopped 36 shots and Ryan Pulock also scored for the Islanders, who cut the Lightning series lead to 3-2.

Game 6 is on Thursday night.

Victor Hedman scored for the Lightning, and Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 22 shots.

The decisive goal came after the Lightning won a faceoff in the Islanders’ zone. The puck was drawn back to defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk, who fanned on a shot at the right point. Islanders captain Anders Lee raced up the wing to chase down a loose puck. Gaining the Lightning zone, he fed a pass across to Eberle, who scored driving up the right wing.
