The coronavirus COVID-19 epidemic is slowly spreading and has caused the most damage to students across the country as schools and colleges have been closed. Since the last week of March, due to the deadly epidemic, many students have suffered a loss of education and all are now waiting for schools and colleges to reopen.

Currently, India is taking its steps in the unlocking process and is now in Unlock 4.0. The Union Home Ministry has already issued 4.0 guidelines with unlocking public transport including trains, metros, buses have already started. The 4.0 guideline also calls for schools and colleges to be carefully reopened.

However, given the way coronavirus cases are increasing rapidly in the country, the Center has ordered schools and colleges to be closed by 30 September. It should be noted that schools with Unlock 4.0 were asked to open from 1 September.

The Union Health Ministry on 8 September issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to partially reopen schools for students of classes 9-12 on a voluntary basis to seek guidance from teachers in the wake of the COVID-19 epidemic. The Ministry issued the SOP in view of the Centre's decision to allow unlocking of activities phase-wise.

Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand government said on Tuesday that no school of any kind will open in the state from September 21. Uttarakhand Education Minister Arvind Pandey said that no schools of any kind will be opened in the state from September 21 as the coronovirus cases are increasing. He further said that the future of children cannot be endangered, therefore, the government has decided not to open any schools in the state.

Earlier, the Education Minister of Haryana has made a big statement regarding opening of school colleges. During an event last week, Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gurjar said that Haryana is fully ready to open schools in the state. He said that the state government was waiting for the permission and guidelines of the central government.
