Two men stabbed following argument in Sydney's inner west
Two men have been stabbed on a busy street in Sydney’s inner west.
Emergency services were called to Darling Street, Balmain, about 8.30pm on Tuesday following reports two men had been assaulted.
The victims, aged 18 and 22, were walking with a group of friends towards a bus stop near Gladstone Park when they became involved in a verbal altercation with another two men.
One of the attackers allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the 18-year-old in the stomach before fleeing.
The 22-year old male sustained stab wounds to one of his shoulders. Police are yet to determine how he was injured.
The injured men were treated by paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.
The attackers, whom police believe to be between 18 and 22, fled.
Police believe the incident was targeted and the groups may have arranged to meet before the altercation.
"There was some conversation, prior to the altercation, to indicate that they are known to each other," Leichhardt Police Area Command crime manager Detective Inspector Grant Watson said.
The motive for Tuesday night's incident is still under investigation.
Police are appealing for anyone with information or dash cam vision to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
