MANGALURU: Dakshina Kannada district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party will undertake a host of activities to mark the 70th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of Seva Saptaha on Thursday. The Raitha Morcha incidentally kick-started weeklong activities at Puttur on Monday by honouring senior farmers, identifying beneficiaries eligible for PM-Kisan Nidhi Samman Yojana, Sudarshan Moodbidri, president of the district unit said.
Sudarshan told reporters on Wednesday that the yuva Morcha will conduct a blood donation camp at the district BJP office on Thursday and at Puttur on Sunday. Party workers will take up cleanliness activities at the booth level, plant saplings to foster afforestation, donate aids to the differently abled, promote eye donation and hold eye check-up camps and distribute fruits to patients admitted for treatment at government hospitals in the city.
The week-long activities that got underway on Monday and that will end on Sunday are being carried out under directions from J P Nadda and Nalin Kumar Kateel, presidents of national and state units of BJP. Every morcha of the party will undertake an activity that will benefit the local population; he said adding that the party leadership including all elected representatives will be part of the activities in their respective assembly constituency limits.
The party will also observe the birth anniversary of party ideologue and founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh Deen Dayal Upadhyaya on September 25 and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 in a befitting manner. These important milestones in the party's and nation’s history will be undertaken in all the 1861 booths in DK district. Booth level cleanliness drives will be taken up on Gandhi Jayanti day to mark the Mahatma’s message on cleanliness, he said.
