Kannada actor Diganth and his wife Aindrita Ray allegedly consumed drugs in parties, according to sources in the police department. The couple has been summoned by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for questioning today in the Sandalwood drug racket. Sources told India Today Television that weed and synthetic drugs were commonly consumed in these high-end parties.
The Bengaluru police got a lead regarding the couple while investigating the ongoing drug menace. Hence, they have summoned Diganth and Aindrita Ray for questioning. In a few parties, the actor-couple was in touch with the accused Rahul, who is currently in custody.
Also, two more actors have been summoned by the Central Crime Branch today.
Diganth and Aindrita will appear before the CCB by 11 am today and they will be questioned about the consumption of drugs and their involvement in high-end parties. Earlier, two actors Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani have been arrested in connection with the Sandalwood drug racket.
Diganth Manchale and Aindrita Ray tied the knot in 2018 and are one of the most sought-after couples in the Kannada film industry. Apart from the couple, late Karnataka minister Jeevaraj Alva's son Aditya Alva will also be questioned.
The Bengaluru police conducted searches at Aditya Alva's house. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) said, "Search warrant was taken and search being conducted at Aditya Alva house near Hebbal called 'House of Lives'."
Ragini Dwivedi has now been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Actress Sanjjanaa's police custody ends today and it is said that the CCB will not ask for an extension of her custody.
The Bengaluru police have now nabbed more than seven members including peddlers and actors who consumed drugs. The peddlers were connected to top businessmen, actors and musicians from the Kannada film industry.
