New Apple smartwatches are official. As widely speculated, the company has launched two new smartwatches — Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE — at its ‘Time Flies’ event. While Apple Watch Series 6 is the successor to last year's Apple Watch Series 5, Apple Watch SE is an all-new affordable smartwatch option from the Cupertino-based giant. With a starting price difference of around Rs 10,000, wondering how the two smartwatches differ? Here's all that's same as well as different in Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE.
Apple Watch SE starts at Rs 29,900 (GPS) and Apple Watch SE (GPS + Cellular) starts at Rs 33,900. While Apple Watch Series 6 starts at Rs 40,900 (GPS) and Apple Watch Series 6's GPS + Cellular model is priced at Rs 49,900 onwards.
There's no ECG monitoring on Apple Watch SE.
Apple Watch Series 6 comes with improved Always-On display, which the company offers better legibility under sunlight. This feature is, however, missing on Apple Watch SE. Apple introduced Always-On display with Apple Watch Series 5 in 2019.
Apple Watch Series 6 is powered by S6 processor, while Apple Watch SE runs on S5. Apple claims that S6 processor is 20% faster than the previous generation. Apple Watch SE is said to be 2 times faster than the Apple Watch Series 3.
One of the key features of Apple Watch Series 6 -- SpO2 or blood oxygen monitoring-- is not there in Apple Watch SE. According to Apple, the SpO2 feature will show the amount of oxygen present in your blood in just 15 seconds.
Both the new Apple watches sport same design. The duo come in same sizes -- 40mm and 44mm.
Apple Watch SE has same key sensors as Apple Watch Series 6 -- accelerometer, compass, gyroscope and altimeter.
Both the watches come in cellular models, allowing users to make calls and text without their iPhones.
Both the watches run on the same OS, this means that buyers will get features like sleep tracking and automatic hand washing detection and support for new workout modes.
Apple Watch SE is compatible with all Apple Watch bands, including the new Solo Loop band options. New watch faces too are there on both.
