Noida: Days after the family of Aftab Alam, the Delhi cabbie allegedly murdered by three passengers, claimed that the FIR in the case was based on a preliminary report, Noida police released a copy of a complaint written by the victim’s brother, Javed.
However, Aftab’s son Sabir said the complaint by Javed was just another version of the panchnama, the preliminary report prepared before an autopsy. The contents of the complaint assume significance because Aftab’s family has described his murder as the result of hate crime while the cops have asserted that the cabbie had been killed following a dispute over fare.
Asked about the “written” complaint, Sabir said they were misled into writing it. “Since I was not in a position to write anything, the cops asked my uncle to copy the contents of the panchnama. My uncle jotted down the contents on a piece of paper and it was treated as the official complaint,” he added. Sabir, an MCom student, said he was not aware that the FIR would be based on what his uncle had written. Sabir also questioned the progress of the case. “It has been nine days since the murder but no arrests have been made,” he added.
