Person flown to Stoke after two air ambulances called to motorbike crash on A470

The road was shut for three hours while emergency services dealt with the incident near Dolgellau

Two people were injured after an accident involving a motorcycle in Gwynedd this evening.

One was airlifted to Stoke and the other was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd by ambulance after the incident on the A470 just after 5.30pm.

Two air ambulances were scrambled to the carriageway near Ganllwyd, which was closed in both directions for around three hours.

North Wales Police were at the scene diverting motorists away from the area, which affected traffic between Dolgellau and Ffestiniog.

Motorist, Ryan Heart was travelling home to South Wales from Pwllhel i via the A470 around the time the accident happened.

He said: "Police were there turning cars around and a low flying helicopter was spotted near the scene but I can't be sure whether or not it was the air ambulance.

"The road was totally closed and not passible."

A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said two air ambulances and two road ambulances attended.

She added: "One casualty was flown to Stoke while another was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor by road ambulance.

"No information on either of the patients conditions is currently available."

The road was reopened at around 8.30pm.
