Panaji: The cost of COVID-19 treatment in private hospitals has been capped by the state government. In an order issued on September 10, the public health department has fixed the rates for facilities and the related services.
As per the order, Rs 12,000 per day has been fixed for the COVID-19 patients opting for a general ward with COVID charge and those who opt for twin sharing will be charged Rs 15,000 per day.
The patients preferring private rooms single will be charged Rs 18,000 per day, while for those who require to be treated in Intensive Care Unit with ventilator occupancy, the cost per day will be Rs 25,000.
The package includes bed charges, nursing, resident doctor, diet, PPE kits for staff and routine medicines. However, the above package does not include diagnostic intensivisit, specialist/intensivisit charges, use of special drugs, use of special equipment, other special procedures/surgery etc and also extra oxygen flow other than ICU.
