THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CM Pinarayi Vijayan, while inaugurating phase-I of Konni medical college, once again gave vent to his anger against a section of the media which he claimed was trying hard to undo whatever good deeds his government had done for development and public welfare.
“Some are guided by thoughts that go against people’s wishes and some in the media side with them,” he said, adding that certain media houses were trying to tarnish government’s image by spreading lies about its prestigious Life Mission that aims to provide housing to a large section who lacked a house.
“Isn’t it true that 2.6L people got homes under this scheme? Steps were taken for completing works of more houses under it. Since such projects turn out to be an honour and gain for state, some people want to spoil government’s image,” he said.
If at all something happened at the end of some contractors associated with the project, why it should be generalized and connected with Life Mission as such, he asked, adding that people won’t get carried away by such news. People won’t judge the government on the basis of a single day’s news. They take decisions on the basis of their experience and their locale,” he said. Later, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said there was no point in his criticism that media was trying to tarnish his government’s image. “Life Mission project is full of mysteries. How can someone sully a government that stands smeared in soot?,” he said, adding that government did not answer his questions regarding the selection of a company like Unitac as the project implementing agency.
