Thane: Unemployed man ‘gets job’, duped of Rs 2.6 lakh

THANE: A 34-year-old unemployed man was duped online of Rs 2.6 lakh by a peron who claimed to be from a job recruitment agency. The man, who was looking for a job, had posted his resume on a job recruitment website.
On July 24, he got a mail from a woman who claimed to be from an automobile company. The mail said they found him suitable for the post and said he had been short-listed for an executive’s post, said his complaint lodged at Vartak Nagar police station. He was told to mail his documents and later another woman did a “telephonic interview” with him. He was later informed that he had been selected for the job.
They asked him to pay a security deposit of over Rs 1,000 and other charges which added up to Rs 2.6 lakh. He was told to come to place for training, but the address turned out to be fake. Realising that he had been been duped, the man approached the police.
